Then, I do my word games. I'm pretty good at Wordle. I don't share my successes (or, gasp! occasional failures). I do always start with the same word: TASER. I'm not sure why this is my starting word, other than it tells me a couple of vowels, if it's an -er word (that's why I don't do "STARE"), and lets me know about S, T, and R.
Next is Quordle. This time, I start with ADIEU to check out most of the vowels. My second word employs O and Y somehow, depending on what the first attempt reveals.
I recently added Connections. There's no go-to strategy for this one. I'm just starting to figure out how to solve it, but it's a different kind of thinking. I like that. I feel like I'm working out my brain as I slurp my cereal or nibble a bagel.
Sometimes, I'll briefly skim through Instragam after the word games but not always.
The one I've been doing the longest is Duolingo. I've been studying Spanish for 1,898 days in a row. On almost all of those, I've done it in the morning for at least 15 minutes. Occasionally, I'm able to eavesdrop on my Spanish-speaking students. I mean, I'm able to talk to them. Right. That's the selling point.
Usually, by the time I've done all of these things, it's time to go to school. Then, I start a whole new set of routines to get the day rolling.
Routines can help calm our minds and also be more productive. What routines do you practice?
