I say, "Yes."
I love to learn. I love adventures. I love learning which often means doing.
So, I say "yes" to a lot of things. Yes to leading PD. Yes to a second masters degree. Yes to being department chair. Yes to too much.
Today, I'm feeling piled up on. There's grading to do (always). Homework to complete (usually). My own kids asking for rides. Students asking for help. Colleagues with questions.
I'll escape for an hour or so while I run this afternoon, but it'll all be here when I get back.
Usually, this is freeing. To remember that it'll be here so I don't need to literally (or figuratively) carry it with me. For some reason it's weighing on me more today. Maybe I didn't sleep enough last night. Maybe I need to let a few things go and just say "No" for a change. Maybe blogging about it here will help. Sometimes it helps to create a priorititized list. I do have 90 minutes after my run to knock a few things off the list.
Here it goes:
I hope your day isn't too cluttered. I think most of it came from people calling my name and asking for things all.day.long.

Here it goes:
- Go for a run. This is probably most important to me mental health-wise.
- Plan department meeting. It's mostly planned, but it's tomorrow. So, I should probably get it set.
- Grade lit analysis paragraphs. They're not super long. And I got a start on them yesterday. I could probably know them out in an hour or so.
- Make contacts with parents of struggling students, especially seniors. I should be able to do this quickly with the automated LMS.
- Drop the oldest off to hang out with his girlfriend. He would drive himself except...
- Drop the car off to the body shop. My oldest had his first fender-bender.
- Grade illustrated versions of "Harlem" by Langston Hughes. This will be fun and won't take a long time. Plus, I want to get them on display around the classroom.
- Double-check plans for the PD I'll lead on Thursday.
- Get ahead on grad class homework. I'm caught up now. I don't really need to work ahead on this.
- Everything else...man, if I can't think of it now, it just might not get done.
I hope your day isn't too cluttered. I think most of it came from people calling my name and asking for things all.day.long.
